Versatile economic analyst with exceptional writing skills. My latest book, Letters from the Boys, Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2018, based on letters written from the trenches of WWI, appeals to academics and general readers alike. My previous book, Days on the Family Farm, U of Minnesota Press, 2007, based on farm diaries, similarly appeals to academic and general readers. Prior research had focused on issues of agriculture, environment and institutions in developing countries -- especially Latin America. Tenured at Mason with 30 years of experience.
Director of undergraduate economics programs at Mason from 1999-2011. Developed, marketed, and supervised undergrad programs for 500 majors and minors. Participated in hiring and supervising administrative staff.
Co-chaired the Sustainability Assessment 2007 for Mason; helped launch and execute Mason's climate action communication campaign in 2008-09.
